Dr. Okoroafor is a double board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand surgery and the founder and CEO of Niche Hand Surgery and Orthopedics in Fairfax, VA. Warmly known by her patients and colleagues as “Dr. O,” she prides herself on her approachable bedside manner and on providing culturally competent orthopedic care. She is passionate about helping patients to achieve their functional goals, and she takes the time to listen to their questions and develop personalized treatment plans for each patient. Her clinical expertise includes hand and wrist fractures, tendon injuries, sports injuries, workplace injuries, and nerve problems.
Dr. Okoroafor graduated from the orthopedic surgery residency program at Washington University in St. Louis. She subsequently completed the Hand and Microvascular Surgery fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. Prior to founding Niche Hand Surgery and Orthopedics, she was the hand surgeon at Inova Medical Group. In her role at Inova, she cared for professional athletes from the Washington Commanders, Washington Nationals, and Washington Spirit. Additionally, she was appointed to the faculty at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and taught residents and medical students. Dr. Okoroafor is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, which maintains rigorous standards for the certification of orthopedic surgeons nationwide. She also holds subspecialty board certification in Surgery of the Hand. She is actively involved in research, which she has presented nationally, and she has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters. She serves as a Consultant Reviewer for the Journal of Hand Surgery, which is the premier publication in the field.
Dr. Okoroafor resides in Northern Virginia with her family. Outside of her medical practice, she enjoys spending time with her family, running, traveling and music.
